PLAY AT THIRD — Ashland third baseman J.J. D’Ozier leaps for a throw, while Wisdom’s Nick Porter slides safely into the base during Monday’s game. The Pioneers won, 12-0.

Only a handful of games were played, with a pair of players with the same last name powering their teams to victory to highlight the slate. Summaries of several of the games that did take place follow:

Presque Isle 9, Fort Kent 6 — Junior Wilder York slammed a three-run home run in the sixth inning to break a 5-5 tie and lead the Wildcats to their second win of the season Saturday in Fort Kent.

Isaac LaJoie blasted a three-run homer in the second inning and Tyler Seeley contributed a solo homer for the ’Cats. Evan Waddell got the pitching win in relief of starter Ryley Norton.

Central Aroostook 14, Hodgdon 10 — The Panthers won on a walk-off home run for the second time in a week, with junior Brendan York providing the key hit with a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning Friday as CA came from four runs down at the beginning of the inning to win.

Dan Brewer and Logan McLaughlin each chipped in with two hits for the Panthers. Mike McClung, who had the heroics a week earlier at home against Fort Fairfield, notched the pitching victory in relief of York.

Fort Fairfield 18, Washburn 8 — Austin Bixler had a big offensive day Friday to lead the Tigers to the home win over the Beavers.

Bixler tripled, singled twice and scored three runs to lift Fort Fairfield to the win in the game called after five innings due to the 10-run rule. Dereck Dufour had three hits for the Tigers. Austin Bernier and Travis Noyes combined for the pitching duties.

Andrew McLaughlin and Keagan Page both had two-run singles for the Beavers.

GHCA 18, Washburn 14 — The Eagles completed the sweep of last Tuesday’s doubleheader, despite a huge offensive showing by Kyle McLaughlin of the Beavers, who had a two-run homer and a single and scored five runs.

Nick Bragg had three hits and Sean Sperrey roped a two-run double for Washburn.

GHCA 19, Washburn 4 — In game one of the twinbill, the Eagles won with ease thanks to a 16-run fourth inning rally.

Bragg had a two-run single, while Page and Sperrey both had doubles for Washburn’s only hits of the game.

Presque Isle 12, Houlton 9 — The Wildcats plated 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the come-from-behind victory over the Shires at home last Tuesday.

Jake Player’s two-run double tied the game, while Waddell followed by knocking in what proved to be the game-winning run with a single.

LaJoie had a two-run double in the fifth inning to break up Chris Anderson’s no-hitter.

Fort Fairfield 17, Madawaska 10 — The Tigers came up with a major victory last Tuesday, knocking off the Owls with five runs in the fourth and six runs in the fifth proving to be the key rallies.

Noyes had a triple and a single and finished with four RBIs, while Bixler knocked in three runs with a double and a triple. Ryan Pelkey added three hits for the winners.
