HOULTON, Maine — For the third year, the Houlton Police Department will honor fallen comrades with a special ceremony at its Military Street barracks. This year’s ceremony takes place Wednesday at 2 p.m.
Law enforcement officials from the Maine State Police, Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department and U.S. Border Patrol, as well as local police departments are invited to this special ceremony.
“Each year we select an individual to honor who has given their life in the line of duty, making the ultimate sacrifice,” Houlton Police Chief Butch Asselin said.
This year, law enforcement officials will honor two individuals — Daryl Gordon Sr., a game warden who died in a plane crash while on patrol in the Eagle Lake area; and Sgt. Adam Rosenthal, a friend of Houlton Sgt. Fred Parker who died in the line of duty in Florida.
For Asselin, the death of Gordon struck a personal chord as his daughter is married to the Gordon’s son.
