DANFORTH — The school boards of SAD 70, SAD 14, Orient and Bancroft held a meeting April 25 at First Settlers Lodge in Weston. At the meeting, the 2011-12 budget for school district AOS 48 was unanimously passed.
The new central office budget agreed upon totals $472,700.
SAD 70 Superintendent Bob McDaniel said that passing the new budget will save the district a little money on administrative costs.
The board had a committee formulate the budget and savings are expected for all four member districts. SAD 70 is expected to receive a savings of $8,639, Danforth should save approximately $15,991, Orient is estimated to have a savings of $8,163, and Bancroft an amount of $15,373.
In total 14 articles were voted upon. Each article was passed unanimously with no opposing votes.
According to McDaniel, passing the AOS budget will allow the board to finalize the total budget for the year.
“Before we could finalize our budget we had to have this piece,” said McDaniel.
Now that the budget has been approved, a board meeting will be held at a future date to select a new superintendent for the AOS.
