Fisher and Robinson, members of the American Legion/Auxiliary Post 136 in Stockholm introduced the Jepsons to 7th and 8th-grade students in Ernie Easter’s class who have been studying about the Depression and World War II era.
New Sweden students of Ernie Easter, in grades 7-8 are currently learning about the Depression and World War II. Mr. and Mrs. Jepson of New Sweden shared their experiences of this time in history with the students. The students asked many questions regarding that era, especially related to ships and the war.
Robinson handed out poems written by children in concentration camps during WWII, showing the courage and hope that they held on to, despite the conditions they were living under.
According to Robinson, “Students agreed that although in this country things were difficult, in some ways during that time, people in this area were better off since they had the means to raise crops and animals.”
