Hershey Track and Field begins Monday
The Hershey Track and Field program, open to boys and girls ages 9-14, introduces youths to the basic fundamentals of running, throwing and jumping. Boys and girls participating in this program may be eligible to move onto the Hershey Track and Field regional finals.
This program begins April 25 and runs through June 9. Youths interested in participating in this program are encouraged to register now, as pre-registration is required. For additional information or to register, call the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department at 493-4224.
Pitch, Hit and Run to be held May 7
The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department will host a local Pitch, Hit and Run Competition for boys and girls. This competition will be held on May 7 at the Caribou Little League fields. Registration deadline is May 6. Pre-registration is required.
Indoor soccer round robin today
On Wednesday, April 20, a round robin indoor soccer tournament for youths in grades 6-8 will be played in Madawaska. There is no fee, but pre-registration is required and limited to 13 participants. Participants will bring a bag lunch.
Wiffle ball tourney Thursday
On Thursday, April 21, youths in grades 4-6 are invited to compete in a wiffle ball tournament at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center. Youths that register will be informed as to the time to arrive at the recreation center once a schedule is available. Pre-registration is required and is limited to 20 participants.
Field trips planned for youths Thursday and Friday
On Thursday, April 21, a trip to the Bradbury sugar shack in Bridgewater and a hike/snowshoe tour at Bigrock in Mars Hill is planned. Youths in grades 4-8 are invited to join in, first to learn how maple syrup is made and then to enjoy an afternoon of snowshoeing and hiking.
The van will leave the recreation center at 9 a.m. and return at 4 p.m.
On Friday April 22, the same age group is invited to join in for swimming and rock climbing at UMPI and then off to Fort Fairfield for a fun day of fishing. Participants must bring a swim suit and towel. Fishing gear will be provided.
Pre-registration is required as both trips are limited to the first 12 to sign up. The fee is $10 per field trip. Participants will need to bring a bag lunch with them for both excursions.
Men’s 30-and-over basketball still meeting
This program is for men ages 30 and over and meets Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m.-noon. There is a $3 per player fee on Sundays.
Zumba classes held throughout week
Zumba classes are being offered at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center on Tuesdays from 9-10 a.m. and 6:15-7:15 p.m., Thursdays from 9-10 a.m. and Saturdays from 9-10 a.m. Check with the instructors for a fee schedule. Beginning May 5, a Thursday evening Zumba class will also be offered from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
High impact aerobics
High impact aerobics are offered on Monday and Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8-9 a.m. Classes are $5 each, 10 for $25 and 20 for $40, payable to the instructor.
Power of Prevention exercise class
The Power of Prevention exercise class is offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. There is no fee for this program.
Cary diabetic exercise class
The Cary diabetic exercise class meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The fee is $1 per class.
