Lifeguard class
The Presque Isle Indoor Pool is hosting the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Program April 18-22 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. each day.
The course teaches a preventive approach to lifeguarding as well as rescue and lifesaving techniques endorsed by the American Red Cross. This course includes certifications in CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Standard First-Aid. These additional courses are taught in conjunction with the lifeguarding course.
Pre-registration is required and the cost of the course is $200. Participants must be at least 15 years of age by April 22. For course prerequisites and requirements, or for registration information, call 764-2564.

Tennis open house
An open house-grand opening for the new tennis courts at Caribou High School will be held Saturday, April 23 at 11:30 a.m.
The event will be held in the CHS ski building and the public is invited to attend.
April vacation pool hours
The Presque Isle Indoor Pool will have special general swim hours during the April school vacation week April 16-23.
Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 1-2:45 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 7 -8:45 p.m.
The pool will be closed Easter Sunday.
Pitch, Hit and Run
The Major League Baseball-sponsored Pitch, Hit and Run Competition will hold a local competition May 7 at the Caribou Little League fields. Girls and boys will compete separately and there are numerous age divisions, which range from 7 to 14.

Fitness walking in Limestone
Join the Limestone Parks and Recreation Department after school for fitness walking on the town’s safe walking paths. This is being offered to K-12 students in the Limestone school system. Times are Mondays, 2:30-3:30 p.m.; Tuesdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m.; Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m.; and Thursdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m.
In the event of rain, walking will be done inside the school. The two people who walk the furthest until the end of the school year will win a prize. Call 325-4791 or 551-1204 to sign up.
Kayak roll clinic
The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Outdoor Program International will hold a kayak roll clinic on Friday, April 15 at 2 p.m. in UMPI’s Gentile Hall. Attendees will learn essential kayak roll skills with whitewater rafting guide and UMPI recreation student Josh Stahl. This event is free for UMPI students and Gentile Hall members. UMPI to hold wilderness first-aid course
The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host a Wilderness First Aid course Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17. Learn the basics in Wilderness First Aid through scenario-based learning and hands-on practice of essential skills for care and treatment of injuries and illnesses in the backcountry. Rock climbing trip
The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Outdoor Adventure Program International (OAPI) offers a series of adventures for campus and community members to enjoy.
The spring semester events schedule wraps up May 7 with Outdoor Rock Climbing in Acadia National Park. The rain date for this event is May 8. The public is invited to join PCIA rock climbing guide, Lenny Cole, and explore the cliffs of Acadia National Park. The public may attend this event for $55 and can sign up beginning April 25. The registration deadline is May 4 by 4 p.m.
