School Union 122 registration scheduled

John Hedman, superintendent of School Union 122 has announced that pre-school and kindergarten registration for children residing in Woodland, Stockholm, New Sweden, Westmanland and T-16/R-4 will take place on the following dates.

Woodland — Wednesday, April 27, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the Woodland Consolidated School.

New Sweden/Westmanland/ Stockholm/T16-R4 on Wednesday, April 27, from noon until 2:30 p.m. at the New Sweden Consolidated School.

To set up an appointment parents/guardians are asked to call the Superintendent’s Office at 498-8436 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. April 27 is for registration only. Children will be screened in September once school begins.

Parents/guardians of pre-school students already enrolled, do not have to make an appointment for kindergarten registration.  

The following documents must be presented at the time of registration.

• Child to be registered.

• Birth certificate for the child being registered, as mandated by law. Hospital certificates cannot be accepted as a substitute.

• Record of immunization, which may be obtained from the child’s doctor, nurse, or health agency.

• Completed forms from information packet (packet will be mailed prior to registration date).

• If parents are divorced or if the child is residing with someone other than a parent(s), documentation of guardianship must be presented. Guardianship shall be substantiated by a copy of court order or probated will appointing guardian of the child.

• As this is a very important day for your child, parents/guardians are encouraged to make other arrangements for their other children and to bring only the child registering for pre-school or kindergarten to the school.

• If your child wears hearing aids and/or glasses, please have the items with your child during registration.

Maine state law mandates that children must be 5 years of age on or before Oct. 15, 2011 in order to be eligible for Kindergarten entrance. Children must be 4 years of age on or before Oct. 15, 2011, in order to be eligible for pre-school entrance.
