AUGUSTA — Senator Roger Sherman (R-Aroostook County) has been appointed by Senate President Kevin L. Raye to serve on the Maine-Canadian Legislative Advisory Commission. The purpose of the commission is to advise the Maine-Canadian Legislative Advisory Office which is charged with strengthening all areas of regional cooperation between Maine’s Legislature and the legislative bodies of the Canadian Provinces of New Brunswick, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland.
“I am excited and pleased to receive this appointment,” said Sherman. “The purpose of the Maine-Canadian Legislative Advisory Commission is to exchange ideas for meeting the economic, cultural, and educational challenges that are common to Maine and the Canadian Provinces. As the chair of the Maine Legislature’s Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry Committee, and a member of the Environmental and Natural Resources Committee, I am looking forward to learning from our Canadian neighbors and to listening to their ideas.”
With experience in farming, teaching science, and practicing law, Sen. Sherman now represents Maine Senate District 34 which encompasses southern and central Aroostook County, including Fort Fairfield, Houlton and Presque Isle.
