PRESQUE ISLE — The public is invited to meet the city’s new police chief, Matthew Irwin, on Saturday, April 9.

Irwin and City Manager Jim Bennett are holding a one-on-one meeting with citizens of Presque Isle from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at Tim Hortons on Main Street.

This is the first such session for Irwin but one of several such meetings Bennett has taken part in since assuming the duties of city manager just over a year ago. The event serves as an opportunity for residents of Presque Isle to shake hands and ask questions of the chief and city manager.

“Irwin brings to the position an extensive career in law enforcement and is enthusiastic about becoming a member of the community,” said Bennett.

“I am deeply honored to be the new chief of police in Presque Isle and appreciate the level of trust and confidence that has been bestowed upon me. I look forward to building strong and professional relationships with the hardworking police officers and residents in the community,” stated Irwin.

“Tim Hortons restaurant is a great place to meet with friends. We thank them for hosting this event at their location,” Bennett said, inviting anyone interested to stop by for a chance to share interests and concerns.
