One day the little red hen fed her chicks bread. “Who will help me (with) the chicks?” asked the Little Red Hen.
“Not I,” said the cat.
Walker Oliver “Not I,” said the dog.
“Not I,” said the pig.
“Then I will. Who will help me make the dessert?”
“Not I,” said the dog.
“Not I,” said the cat.
“Not I,” said the pig.
“Then I will,” said the Little Red Hen. “Who will help me set the table?”
“Not I,” said the dog.
“Not I,” said the cat.
“Not I,” said the pig.
“Then I will,” said the Little Red Hen. “Who will help the chicks eat the cake?”
“I will,” said the dog.
“I will,” said the cat.
“I will,” said the pig.
“No, you can eat the crumbs.”
And they did.

“Not I,” said the donkey.
“Not I,” said the dog.
“Not I,” said the duck.
“Then I will. Who will take the flour to the mill?”
“Not I,” said the fox.
“Not I,” said the donkey.
“Not I,” said the dog.
“Not I,” said the duck.
“Then I will. Who will bake a cake?”
“Not I,” said the fox.
“Not I,” said the donkey.
“Not I,” said the dog.
“Not I,” said the duck.
“Then I will.” And she did. “Who will put up the decorations?”
“Not I,” said the fox.
“Not I,” said the donkey.
“Not I,” said the dog.
“Not I,” said the duck.
“Then I will.” And she did. “Who will say surprise?”
“Yes, I will,” said the fox.
“Yes, I will,” said the donkey.
“Yes, I will,” said the dog.
“Yes, I will,” said the duck.
“Okay, I will let you say surprise.” And they did.
