MASCULINE IMPRESSION —

This photo was taken in the school hall. It was made so the model’s gaze pierces your inner consciousness and stares deeply into your raw id. I took this photo because many images shown in class are very feminine, so I wanted to present something masculine. It has great contrast and a perfect angle.

REFLECTIONS AS ART —

This photo is of my friend. It was taken in front of Wilder’s Jewelry Store in Presque Isle. I love this picture because of her adorable baby face and the fact that she looks absolutely innocent. I love the contrast between the light and dark colors and her reflection in the window. I do believe the gloves even give her more character. She is gorgeous.

DREAD-FULL —

Don’t worry. His face doesn’t really look like that. The eyes were darkened, enlarged, shadowed and angled all in Photoshop, as well as the sharp facial structure, sunken cheeks, and pale skin. All in all, about half an hour of heavy editing was involved. The assignment? “Creepy,” of course!

CAPTURING THE UNEXPECTED —

The day after I received my camera, this cute, little chipmunk posed for me. The photo reminds me that with photography, anything can be captured in the moment.

GLOOMY YET ATTRACTIVE —

My Mom and I found this little shack on the Conant Road in Presque Isle. I took this picture for one of the assignments that our photography teacher assigned. The project was to take 15 pictures of “rule of third” pictures. For those of you who don’t know what rule of thirds is, it’s when a photographer focuses on a specific object, but takes the picture so that the object is not centered. I chose this picture because I found it to be gloomy, yet strangely beautiful. And thanks to my Mom, who I call my “prop Mom” (because she carries all of my trinkets and things that I take pictures of), I never would’ve been able to take this photo, which I favor so much. Thanks, Mom!

FLY AWAY —

This picture was taken at my barn on the Chapman Road. What I like about this picture is the flies on the horse’s face and back legs. I also like how the picture shows how dirty the horse is and how aware he is that I am there and that close to him. What makes this picture so strong is that the horse is a common thing but pictured in an uncommon way.
