Clean Elections Fund is a blessing

To the editor:
    I’m proud that Maine has led the way when it comes to getting the big money out of politics. And every year at tax time I am proud to check “Yes” on Line One of the Maine income tax form – the Clean Election check-off! It is a small but powerful action.
    When I check “Yes”, I send $3 into the Maine Clean Elections Fund. It does not add $3 to my tax bill, and it won’t reduce a refund either. It tells the folks in Augusta that I care about keeping corporate money out of Maine elections. And it’s not just me. Thousands of Maine people check “Yes” for Clean Elections every year.
    Maine has been the envy of the nation ever since we implemented our Clean Election system more than 10 years ago. Let’s continue that proud tradition by checking “Yes” for Clean Elections on our taxes this year.
