    The Houlton/Hodgdon Adult Education program is offering the following courses. To register for these clases or for more information, call 521-3100 ext. 5.
CPR and First Aid at Hodgdon Fire
    Region Two Adult Vocational CPR and First Aid certification classes will be held at the Hodgdon Fire Department on Monday, April 4 and Thursday, April 7. The CPR class will meet on April 4 from 5:30-9 p.m. The First Aid class will meet on April 7 from 5:30–9 p.m. Students may register for one or for both classes.  Paul Stewart is the instructor, and the fee for each class is $25.  For other course information go to www.sad29.maineadulted.org .
Grow Your Own Organic Garden
    The annual “Grow Your Own Organic Garden” class will again be at the Houlton Higher Education Center on Wednesday, April 6 from 6-9 pm.  Presenter Dick York will introduce you to the basics of growing a garden using the organic approach to soil management and weed and pest control. The only cost is a $5 material fee. There will be free organic seeds for those who pre-register.
Local College Option
    The Houlton Higher Education Center may be your college option for the upcoming fall term.  Currently the Center is offering free financial aid advising and academic assessments.  Whether you have been out of school for 20 years or are a graduating senior this year, call us to find out what college options are here for you.  For more information, call either Jean Henderson at 521-3100 x4 or Otis Smith at 521-3100 x5.
Building Code Workshop
    Maine Bureau of Building Codes & Standards and local adult education will be presenting an introduction to Maine’s new building and energy code on Thursday morning, April 7 from 8 to 11:30 a.m. in room 123 at the Houlton Higher Education Center, 18 Military St. in Houlton. This workshop is for all area contractors; building trades workers; property owners; and public officials. There will be presentations on the new code, energy efficiency, energy auditing, permitting, and building construction safety. There is no charge for workshop.
