PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Students from Presque Isle High School were lauded for their individual efforts in athletics March 14 and 15. The following is a recap of the awards handed out at the two ceremonies.
Receiving a jacket for being a senior athlete lettering all four years in one sport was swimmer Shae Adler.
Receiving sweatshirts (athletes with six varsity letters in any combination of varsity sports) were: seniors Jordan Hallett (golf and hockey), Travis Dyer (golf and basketball) and Oliver Zubrick (golf, soccer and basketball) and juniors Wilder York (soccer, basketball and baseball) and Michaela Powers (fall and winter cheering).
The following awards were also presented:
Junior varsity cheering (coach Jenna Flanagin) — Receiving certificates were freshmen Jocelyn Hewey and Katelyn Michaud; sophomores Paige Beaulieu, Rachel Dow, Cassie Lunney and Brittany Page; junior Mychaela Lunney; and senior Stephaine Therrien.
Varsity cheering (coach Jolene Kinney) — Receiving their first-year letter were sophomores Kelsey Corriveau and Rachel Dow, junior Kelsey Buck and senior Stephaine Therrien. Receiving their second-year letter were sophomore Gabby McCrum and juniors Paige Doyen and Courtney Lyford. Receiving their third-year letters were junior Michaela Powers and Julea Gorneault.
Girls swimming (coaches Joyce Price and John Leber) — Receiving first-year letters were freshmen Sarah Gilson, Jacqueline Lambert, Naomi McEachern, Erikka Murley and Heather Nadeau; and junior managers Barbara Bonville and Brittany Burlock. Receiving her second-year letter was sophomore Grace Short. Receiving their third-year letters were juniors Erica Hemphill and Sarah McEachern and seniors Ashley Burlock and Alecia Palmer. Receiving her fourth-year letter was Adler.
Boys swimming — Receiving their first-year letters were freshmen Nate DeWitt, Dustin Drabek, Isaac Estey, Alex Hemphill and Joshua Jones. Receiving their second-year letters were junior Tristan Russell and senior Brock Cassidy.
Girls skiing (coaches Paul Towle and Doug Guerrette) — Receiving their first-year letters were freshmen Shea Brown, Shelby Condon, Bonnie Corey, Lauren Schiff and Shannon Sweeney and sophomores Amanda Bennett and Abbie Carrier; second-year letters, sophomore Emma Bartlett and junior Courtney Colligan; third-year letter, junior Chelsey Carroll.
Boys skiing — Receiving letters were: first-year, freshman Kyle MacCallum, sophomore Joel Shay and juniors Jay Getman, Jesse Rochester, Matt Sullivan and Aaron Whitaker; second-year, sophomores Thomas Freeman, Gabe Player and Jonathan Rochester; third-year, junior Jacob Towle.
Ice hockey (coaches Carl Flynn and Darren Carlisle) — Receiving certificates were freshmen players Trevor Levesque and Ryder Soucy and manager Clarissa Buck and junior manager Melissa Carson; first-year letters went to: freshmen Andrew Michaud, Mike Michaud and Tyler Seeley and junior Nate Sperrey; second-year, sophomores Adam Flynn and Scott Rhynold, juniors Kate Campbell, Cody Merrill and Evan Waddell; and senior Derek Sczuroski; third-year, juniors Nic Davis, Isaac LaJoie and Connor Shaw and seniors Caleb Buck, Jacob Buck, Jordan Hallett and Josh MacFarline.
Junior varsity II boys basketball (coach Ron McAtee) — Receiving certificates were: freshmen Mitchell Ayotte, Michael Boone, Hale Cushman, Aaron Kofstad, Frank Nunez, Saul Nunez, Conor Seward and managers Keanna Daniels and Alyssa Summerson; and sophomore Allan White.
Junior varsity girls basketball (coach Tim McCue) — Receiving certificates were: freshmen Carly Bell, Kelsey Burlock, Logan Caron, Hannah Guerrette, Lora Ireland, Kaleigh Kinney and Molly O’Connell; sophomores Kayla Girardin, Madison Michaud, Kali Warner and managers Amelia Sharp and Samantha Simonds; and junior Dani Wolland.
Junior varsity boys basketball (coach Bill Guerrette) — Receiving certificates were: freshmen Drew Bates, Karson Eaton, Josh Gordon, Cody Lyford, Bradley Shields, Karson Wilcox and managers Blair Bailey, Paige Gagnon and Jeremy Shaw; sophomores Corey Belanger, Dakota Fox, Michael Guerrette, Connor Savage, Jonah Stephenson, Corey Willette and Jacob Williams.
Varsity girls basketball (coach Jeff Hudson) — Receiving certificates were: freshman manager Mikayla Albert; sophomore Kayla Girardin; and junior Dani Wolland; first-year letters, sophomores Laurin Ackerson and Liza Buck; juniors Casey Bonville, Claire Cheney and manager Stacia Caron; and senior Chelsea Lynds; second-year letters, sophomores Karlee Bernier, Chandler Guerrette, Megan Ireland and Meredith Stewart; third-year letters, Chelsea Nickerson and Kayla Richards.
