To the editor:
I am astonished that we claim to live in a democratic society and yet once again the next person who, should be asked, to sit on the City Council — is not asked and someone who did not even run is asked.
Once again, I ask what are the City Councilors afraid of? Have the voters not spoken? Are the votes in vain and only the select few are asked to sit? What is wrong with this picture?
As a citizen of Caribou, I am very disappointed in our Council. They totally disregard the wishes of the community. Maybe it’s time to sack the whole bunch and go back to a town format as opposed to the city setup and then maybe our voices will be heard!
Our councilors who were elected by the people to serve in our best interests and not for themselves. In my opinion, they are not doing a very good job. They ask for input but disregard the wishes of the people who have spoken!
We, the people of this community, must stand together and be heard or we will lose what little we have left of this democratic society!
