Sirois, Edmund Jay, 68, of Connecticut, on February 28, 2011. Arrangements are in the care of the D’Esopo Funeral Home, Wethersfield, Conn.

God could not make him better and now we must let him go. On February 28, 2011 with heavy hearts, we said farewell to Jay “Gumpie” Sirois following a long and difficult illness.

Jay was born on February 28, 1943 in Caribou. Son of the late Edmund and Lenora, he was a graduate of Caribou High School and proudly served in the United States Navy prior to moving to Connecticut. For more than 20 years he and partner Stephen Gale have successfully managed Sirois & Gale Construction Company, LLC of West Hartford, Conn. For the past 32 years he has lived in Cromwell, Conn. with his “marvelous” wife Phillipa “Phil”, beloved granddaughter Leslie, Leslie’s fiancé Craig Knell and little Penelope, their Chihuahua.

Jay is also survived by daughter Tammy Sirois, her significant other, Stuart Raymond and grandson, Scott Manzone of Thomaston, Conn.; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth M. Watson, sisters-in-law, Norma and husband, Joe Duheme of Caribou, Donna J. Watson of Middletown, Conn. and Verna Sirois of West Suffield, Conn. He is also survived by nieces, Karen, Paige, Harmony and Nicole, Kathy and her significant other Jim and Jennie and husband Buddy. He was extremely appreciative of the love and support of neighbors Dave and Barb and their family. We will mourn his passing and miss his “Sirois” wit and humor, but his memory will live on in all of us. Happy Birthday Gumpie – we love you!!!

Funeral service was Friday (March 4) at 7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, CT. Calling hours were from 5-7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in “Gumpie’s” honor may be made to the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center, 80 Seymour St., P.O. Box 5037, Hartford, CT 06101.
