The Caribou High Drama Club is getting ready for the annual Drama Competition sponsored by the Maine Principal’s Association and the Maine Drama Council. This year’s event will be held at the University of Maine at Fort Kent for one day only, Saturday, March 12. The afternoon session will start at 1 p.m. featuring clubs from Van Buren, Easton and Caribou schools. The evening session, slated for 7 p.m. will showcase Stearns and Fort Kent.

This year, Caribou drama students are preparing another original script, written by former CHS student Danielle Lane and current CHS senior Taylor Arey. “Figments”, the working title, takes place in rural Vermont on a stormy evening and tells the story of Becky and Nathan, a young couple on their way to Quebec to spend their wedding night. Along the way they are stranded and have to accept the hospitality of a local family with some eccentric habits.

“Figments” will feature new additions to the club, Devon Cote, as Nathan; Taylor Hartley portraying Becky; Dustin Denbow, as Bill;  Elyse Kiehn, assorted voices and Morgan Swan as Grandma Tilly, along with former members Robbie Kiehn, as Billy; Taylor Arey  as Marie and Emma Duplessie-Cyr as Auntie Jillian.

The play will preview on Thursday, March 10, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Caribou Performing Arts Center. Admission is free with donations accepted to defray the cost of touring the production.
