To the editor:
Typically letters to the editor aren’t my style but in this instance … well, I just couldn’t pass it up.
First and foremost I wish to extend a sincere thank you to the Board of Directors of the Caribou Chamber of Commerce for insuring that despite engaging in the tedious task of restructuring, they took the time to work diligently and ensure that Caribou still had their Winter Carnival.
Kudos also to Jenny Coon, the interim Chamber Director, for stepping in during one of Caribou’s biggest celebrations. It was not an easy task but Jenny was awesome and really worked hard to ensure timely dissemination of information regarding all the activities that happened in Caribou during the month of February.
Kudos also go to all the representatives from the clubs and service organizations that pulled together to make it all work. They had some great ideas, some great events and lots of sweat equity put into many of the events. If you missed them, well let’s just say you missed out on lots of fun.
And I would be remiss if I did not thank Cary Medical Center and Kim Jones for hosting the Healthy You Program in Caribou during the month of February. We partnered on the Crazy Caribou Games and were thrilled that folks took the time to prove that you can get out in the winter and have a great time.
An extra special thank you goes out to our Aroostook Republican … yup, OUR Aroostook Republican; the tool that documents our history. Despite hard economic times that affect all dailies and weeklies, they do a great job in disseminating information.
Life is very busy, and sometimes we don’t have time to look outside our daily routines to see what is happening in our local community. The phrase there’s lots to do in Caribou, is not short of the mark. February has flown by but I urge folks to take a look around … you live in a very active and wonderful community … get out and experience it!
