Through their new “Have a Hear”’ Pillow Project, members of the Cary Medical Center Auxiliary are helping with patient care by adding a little extra comfort for the hospital’s post-operative surgical patients. Over the past months, Auxiliary members have hand-sewn more than 50 heart pillows for patients to use while recuperating from surgery. Cary Medical Center Auxiliary member Donna Small initiated the project, after seeing how much having a pillow helped a friend recover from surgery. While one Auxiliary member sews together the donated fabric, other members get together for a ‘pillow stuffing’ party. Small then puts the finishing touches on each pillow by stitching together the fabric.  Displaying some of their completed Heart Pillows are Auxiliary members from left: Barb Aiken, Dot Wakem, April Caron, Margaret Cyr, Joanne Cyr, Donna Small and Gail Michaud.
