Provides aid to school in India

MARS HILL NEWS

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met Tuesday morning at 6:30, Feb. 15, at the Aroostook Health Center.

Rotarian Venkat Munukutla presented a booklet showing the special presentation of a multi-media projector made at the Z.P. High School in Isukapudi, India. The presentation was made on Feb. 9 by the local Rotary Club in Amalapuram, India, with funds donated by the Mars Hill Rotary Club.

Rotarian Ray Mersereau continued with the special slide show of the trip he and his wife Judy made last year. They enjoyed time at Disney World with their granddaughter, who is working as an intern at Disney. They then continued up the East Coast, spending time in Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. They enjoyed exploring the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and spent time at Hersey Park in Pennsylvania. They spent time with their family in Massachusetts, before heading home to Maine. They traveled 13,290 miles and traveled through 36 states.

Adult Ed

The spring semester of the adult education classes will start on Monday, Feb. 28, and run through Thursday, April 14, at Central Aroostook High School in Mars Hill.

The following classes are being offered: Quilting, Woodworking, Cardio Kick Aerobics, Basic Computer, Cake Decorating with Fondant and Living Well. Call Kathy at 425-3771 to register.

 

Students of the Month

In a continuing effort to recognize outstanding student citizenship, the faculty of Central Aroostook Junior-Senior High School announces that Ethan Bradstreet and Mariah A. Cook have been selected as the January Students of the Month. They were selected in recognition of their commitment to the pillar of character.

Ethan Bradstreet is the son of Wendy and Ryan Bradstreet of Bridgewater. He is a member of the 8th-grade class and lists algebra 1 as his favorite class. Ethan enjoys farming and plans on working on the family farm when he finishes his education.

Mariah A. Cook is a member of the Senior Class and lists sociology, gym and English as her favorite subjects.
She is a member of the softball, soccer and volleyball teams and enjoys soccer and photography outside of school. She plans on attending Beal College to become a medical office administrator, which has always been her dream.

 

Talent Show

The Winterfest Committee and the Junior High Yearbook staff are inviting local residents who would like to share their talents and perform at the Winterfest Talent Show on Friday, March 11, to contact Betsy York at CAHS, 425-2811, to sign up before March 4.

This event is not a competition but is meant to be a fun evening of entertainment. Sign-up applications and more details can also be found on the library website at http://www.sad42.k12.me.us/library

 

Library amnesty

The Walter T.A. Hansen Memorial Library is having an amnesty time from March 1 through April 30 for folks that have overdue books. Books can be returned with no fees incurred, although donations will be accepted. They can also be dropped in the book drop.

Take this chance to return those forgotten books with no penalty!!
