Presque Isle City Council makes appointments

PRESQUE ISLE — City Council filled several board and committee seats during its Feb. 7 meeting at City Hall.
Council appointments included:
• Larry LaPlante, reappointed for a one-year term, ending Dec. 31, 2011, to the Audit Committee;
• Michael MacPherson, reappointed as an associate member for a one-year term, ending Dec. 31, 2011, to the Board of Assessment and Review;
• Roger Hoffses, reappointed, by the Northern Maine Fair Association, for a four-year term, ending Dec. 31, 2014, to the Forum Advisory Board;
• Reappointed Mike Mathers and Bruce Roope to the Planning Board for a four-year term, ending Dec. 31, 2013;
• Linda Smith, reappointed for a three-year term, ending Dec. 31, 2013, to the Presque Isle Development Fund Board of Trustees;
• Reappointed Larry Clark, Presque Isle Industrial Council representative; and Kenneth Arndt, Planning and Development Department representative; as annual appointments to the Presque Isle Development Fund Board of Trustees;
• Sharon Roix, reappointed for a three-year term and reappointed Gail Vreeland as an alternate for a three year term, ending Dec. 31, 2013, to the Registration Appeals Board;
• Appointed Marcella Walton as a member for a three-year term, ending Dec. 31, 2013, for the Zoning Board of Appeals; and
• Craig Green, appointed to a three-year term as Sewer District trustee.
Three people submitted applications for two seats on the Library Board of Trustees, for three-year terms — Louise Hamlin, Haley Johnston and Richard Kimball — with Council postponing voting on appointments until a later date.
Council received no applicants for the following openings:
• Airport Advisory Board, one vacancy for a four-year term;
• Downtown Revitalization Committee, two openings for four-year terms;
• One vacancy for a four-year term on the Recreation & Parks Advisory Committee; and
• Zoning Board of Appeals, an opening for a one-year term as an alternate.
Councilors also appointed Lucy Richard to the Strategic Planning Committee as the SAD 1 representative.
