Local hoop teams complete regular season

Regular season play for varsity basketball ended Friday, with only a handful of games taking place. Summaries of those contests are as follows:
Washburn boys 63, Easton 55 – At Easton Friday, Jordan McLaughlin connected on five three-point shots and Mitchell Worcester added two more as the Beavers won in both teams’ regular-season finale.
McLaughlin scored 23 points and Worcester had 18 for the winners, while Connor Fitzpatrick had 13.
Reid Clark scored 20 points for the Bears, while Jonah Bacon netted 13.
Fort Fairfield girls 42, Central Aroostook 35 – The Tigers put an end to a three-game losing streak by knocking off the Panthers Thursday in Mars Hill.
Amanda Hotham was the offensive star as she scored a game-high 25 points for Fort Fairfield. Danielle Tracy had nine for the winners.
Vicki McIntyre had nine points, Kayla Cushman nine and Kristen Long eight for CA, who trailed at all the quarter breaks.
Southern Aroostook boys 66, Easton 51 – The Warriors won a crucial home contest Thursday thanks to the combination of Pat Goodall, who had 11 points and 20 rebounds, and Rob Rockwell, who had 20 points, 10 assists and seven steals.
SA earned a spot in the Class D playoffs with the victory, slipping past Wisdom for the 10th and final position.
Clark scored 15 points and Jared Hafford totaled 10 for the Bears.
Van Buren boys 63, Ashland 57 – The host Crusaders avenged an earlier loss to the Hornets thanks to the offensive play of A. J. Edgecomb, who fired in 22 points to lead the way.
Kenny Tarr scored 35 points in a losing cause, while Alex Chasse added 12 more. The two combined for 10 three-point field goals in the contest.
Central Aroostook boys 69, Katahdin 53 – The two playoff bound teams closed out regular season play Thursday in Stacyville, with the Panthers remaining undefeated with the 16-point win.
Brendan York scored 19 points, Caleb Kelly had 16 and Mike McClung 10 for CA.
Brandon Robinson scored 24 for the host Cougars.
Madawaska girls 48, Fort Fairfield 47 – The Owls beat the Tigers for the second time in a week thanks to a layup by Amanda Nadeau with one second to play last Wednesday in Madawaska.
Erin Dugal had 16 points and 13 rebounds for the winners, who reached the preliminary playoff round in EM Class C.
Hotham scored 15 points and Brooke Beaulieu added 14 for Fort Fairfield.
Fort Fairfield boys 71, Madawaska 60 – Travis Noyes scored 23 points and had 13 assists and 11 rebounds in his final regular season home game last Wednesday, helping the Tigers to the win.
Fort led by 17 points early in the third quarter before the Owls stormed back to take the lead. However, the Tigers were too strong down the stretch and prevailed.
Brandon Clark had 16 points and Andrew Lewis chipped in with 10 for the winners.
Deejay Gendreau scored 24 points and Matt Deschenes had 17 for the Owls.
Presque Isle boys 65, Fort Kent 29 – The Wildcats smothered the Warriors last Tuesday behind 18 points by Travis Dyer and 13 from Oliver Zubrick. Andrew Cash had a big game off the bench for the Wildcats with eight points and seven rebounds.
Jared Soucy scored seven to lead host Fort Kent.
Washburn girls 61, Hodgdon 42 – Becca Campbell scored 27 points, 14 in the second quarter, as the Beavers came out on top in their final game of the regular season, played last Tuesday in Washburn.
Carmen Bragg and Meghan Saucier scored 18 and 12 points, respectively, for the winners, while Mariah Wiley had 15 to pace the Hawks.
