Ronald and Marie Sargent celebrated 65 years of marriage on Jan. 1, with family members at their home in Bridgewater.
Ronald is the son of the late Chester and Amy (Beals) Sargent, and Marie is the daughter of the late John and Abby (Williams) Brown. Both attended Houlton High School. The couple have 11 children — Royce of Monticello; John of Windham; Rhona of Robinson; Daryl of Massachusetts; Bruce of Presque Isle; Jim of Scarborough; Alan of Bridgewater; Amy of Mars Hill; Mary of Florida; Jean of Farmington and Tina of New York.
They have 35 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Marie is the sister of Philip Brown and the late Gloria Crafts of Houlton, and has several nieces and nephews.
The Sargents have resided most of their married life in Bridgewater.
Because of their love of horses, they raised more than 50 ponies at one time, which was a great enjoyment for family and friends.
After Ronald retired from trucking, the couple farmed for several years.
The couple enjoy fishing, raising a huge garden and keeping two miniature horses to entertain their grandchildren.
All of their children wish to honor them for their great example of hard work and love.
