SACAP board establishes Lewis Taavi Wirta Art scholarship

The Board of Directors of Southern Aroostook Cultural Arts Project (SACAP) has established a college scholarship for a local student who is pursuing a career in the arts. The Lewis Taavi Wirta Student Art Scholarship Fund was established in 2008 and is funded through the sales of the student notecards. The images for the notecards are chosen from the artwork that is exhibited in the annual Seeds of Creativity Student Art Show.
The scholarship of $500 will be awarded to a 2011 graduating senior from one of our area local high schools or an eligible home-schooled student. Eligible students will have maintained a grade point average of at least 3.5.
The organization’s hope is to foster creativity and self-expression through the arts for young artists. SACAP members encourage students to go to their school’s guidance office for an application. The application must be postmarked by April 8. Submit your application to SACAP, PO Box 382, Houlton, Maine 04730.
