SOUTHINGTON & MILLDALE – Mary L. Anderson, 99,  passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011, at HCC, at Bradley Memorial. She was the wife of the late Lester Anderson. She was born March 18, 1911, in Penobscot, ME, to the late Leon and Lucy Leach.

Mary had a home in OxBow, ME, surrounded by the acres of a potato farm for over sixty years. She taught second grade for many years in Ashland, ME.  Two of her many interests were travel and painting.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Connie Rand of Southington; six grandchildren: David Rand of Rocky Hill, CT, Robin and his wife, Adelia of Plantsville, CT, Karla Amaral of Fall River, MA, Bradford Amaral and his wife, Sherry of Westport, MA, Douglas Amaral of North Dartmouth, MA, and Michael Amaral and his wife, Lorraine of Windmere, FL; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Sallly Amaral; and her son, Gregory Amaral.

A brief memorial service was held Saturday, February 5, 2011, at 2 p.m., at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville, CT. There was no calling hours. A graveside service is planned for next summer. Donations in memory of Mary may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Diabetes Assoc.
