WADE — Three males, including two adults and a juvenile, have been charged in connection with a burglary at a Wade residence last week.

“On Jan. 11, troopers investigated a burglary in Wade on the New Dunn Town Road. Suspects had broken into the house and adjacent buildings on the property. It was suspected they had stolen some metal scrapping from the property,” said Sgt. Julie Bergen, Maine State Police.

The victim, according to Bergen, is Phil White, who is currently in the Veterans’ Administration nursing home in Caribou.

“Trooper Dan Deschaine was called to process the scene the following day and collected substantial evidence,” said Bergen.

Bergen said three individuals were reportedly involved and tire tracks indicated a pickup was used to transport the stolen goods from the residence.

“The suspects’ names were developed over the course of the investigation by Trooper Fred Thomas and when the subjects showed up in the Caribou area, they were brought in for questioning by officers with the Caribou Police Department for the State Police,” Bergen said.

While being questioned, Bergen said all three admitted to their involvement in the crime.

“All three confessed to their crimes after being interviewed by Troopers Thomas and Deschaine,” said Bergen.

Charged with criminal mischief, theft and burglary were a 17-year-old male; Samuel Johnson, 27; and Marshal Dyer, 27 — all from the Washburn area.

“They had targeted the residence because it looked abandoned and stole various metals from the property. It also appeared that they had intentions of returning to the residence at a later time to retrieve much of the items left behind,” said Deschaine.
