STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF at NMCC flashed back to the 1960s with a “sock hop” celebration complete with a disc jockey spinning rock ‘n roll hits from the era and the NMCC Diner serving up free burger and hot dog baskets with a soda fountain counter featuring milkshakes and ice cream sundaes.
The event was held Jan. 12 in the college’s gymnasium to kick off NMCC’s 50th anniversary. Approximately 600 college and community members took part in the fun. Among those providing entertainment at the gathering was the staff of the student services area that won the “Most Spirit” award for their outfits, as well as their lively performance of the “Hand Jive.” Among those performing from the area were, from left, front row: Robbie Krul, assistant director of admissions; Betsy Harris, registrar; Lori Googins, athletic director; and Nicole Poulin, administrative support.
