Officials with Mobilize Northern Maine will host an event in Presque Isle this evening in a continued effort to determine the Internet technology needs of the region.

“There will be an MNM IT Industry Cluster meeting this evening (Jan. 19) at the Crow’s Nest on Maysville Street. This will be our first ever IT social networking event for those in The County working in the IT industry,” said Walt Elish, president and CEO of Aroostook Partnership for Progress and administrator for Leaders Encouraging Aroostook Development.

Any technology professional is invited to this meeting.

“This will be an historic event and hopefully lead to other such gatherings in The County,” Elish said.

Elish said there are “dozens of small and large technology businesses that choose to live in Aroostook County.”

“We want an opportunity to get everyone to meet each other, exchange business contacts and work together to grow the IT industry in northern Maine,” noted Elish.

The event will consist of 90 minutes of informal networking where participants will be able to meet other technology professionals, from 6-7:30 p.m. The last 30 minutes — 7:30-8 p.m. — will be a brief discussion on two topics: Potential Northern Maine Technology Association and Mobilize Maine Outsourcing Collaborative.
