Snell, Elaine A., 71, of Wade, at Van Buren, on January 13, 2011. A spring interment will be in the Maine Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.


ARSH Elaine Snell OBWADE – Elaine A. Snell, 71, died January 13, 2010, at a Van Buren health care facility. She was born December 1, 1939, in Wade, the daughter of Harold and Beulah (Carmichael) Churchill.

“Red”  married Ronald Snell, and they were stationed in many areas of the country during his time in the military. She and her husband were avid motorcycle enthusiasts and participated in several poker runs in Florida. They then moved back to Maine, where she worked for several years at the Waldo County Hospital pharmacy. For over fifteen years, she was employed at the Cary Medical Center pharmacy in Caribou. Elaine was a wonderful gardener, raising both flowers and vegetables.  She enjoyed genealogy, ceramics, both card and board games, talking with friends on the phone, but mostly spending time with her family.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Merle Churchill.

She is survived by two sons and their wives: Douglas L. and Cindy Snell of Limestone, and Donald L. and Judy Snell of Caribou; a daughter and her husband, Jackie and Mark Shaw of Mapleton; grandchildren: Kelly, Michelle, Jacob, Travis and his wife, Christie, Jasmyn, Jordyn and Dylan; a great-grandson, Tristan; three borthers: Nate Churchill and his wife, Cynthia of Brewer, William Tactikos of San Antonio, TX, and Steve Churchill and his wife, Melody of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a sister, Gwendolyn McBurnie and her husband, Bud Porter of Perham; and a sister-in-law, Joy Churchill of Washington, PA.

Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m., Saturday, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Bruce Blakney officiating. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. A reception followed in the gathering area of the funeral home.
