Carl H. Delano Sr

DELANO, Carl H. Sr., 90, PERHAM, January 13, 2011. Spring interment with military honors will be at Fairview Cemetery, Perham. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

PERHAM – Carl H. Delano Sr., 90, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 13, 2011, at his residence, with family and friends at his side. He was born May 12, 1920, in Georgetown, ME, the son of Arthur F. and Edna B. (Cunningham) Delano.

Carl attended Georgetown schools and entered the service in June of 1944. He served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division in the European Theatre.

After the war, he worked for many years at Bath Iron Works as a pipe fitter before moving to work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he retired as a foreman pipe fitter.

He is survived by three children: Carl Jr. and his wife, Beverly of Sanford, Deborah Standish of South Berwick, and Dawn Stuart of Tucson, AZ; one sister, Gloris Pinette of Bath, ME; 17 grandchildren;  21 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind five step-sons and one step-daughter; John Laframboise of Meridan, CT, Vern of Newfane, VT, Stuart of Wells, ME, Doug of Satellite Beach, FL, Phil of Newport Beach, CA, and Lisa Laframboise of Presque Isle, ME, and 11 step-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Simone R. (LaFond) Delano; and a daughter, Sharon Saiauski in 2006.

There were no public calling hours. Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan.16, 2011, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Dave Goupille officiating.
