High school skiers

finally hit snow

PRESQUE ISLE – Nordic skiers from Presque Isle, Caribou, Fort Fairfield, Madawaska and Fort Kent competed Dec. 29 at the Nordic Heritage Center with a pair of cross-country ski meets. The event was originally slated for Tuesday, Dec. 28, but pushed back a day due to inadequate snow conditions.

Caribou finished first in the boys 5K team results with 11 points. Other team scores were: Presque Isle, 45; Madawaska, 53; Fort Kent, 62; and Fort Fairfield, 79.

In the boys 1K Sprint race held in the afternoon, skiers were sent out in heats, based on their times from the morning race. Caribou won the sprints with five points, followed by Madawaska, 10; Presque Isle, 11; Fort Kent, 17; and Fort Fairfield, 18. Results from local skiers were:
