The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday morning at 6:30 at the Aroostook Health Center. The special guests were members of the 2010 CAHS Baseball Team. Under the leadership of Coaches Brent York and Butch Richardson, the team won 13 of 16 games during the regular season and went on to win the Eastern Maine Title. Members attending the meeting included: Casey Brewer, Mitch Folsom, Ross Grass, Brendan York, Logan McLaughlin, Mike McClung and Dan Brewer.

Other special guests included members of grade 5 from Fort Street Elementary School. Jennifer Mahan’s 5th-grade class is doing a book drive as their Service Learning Project. The class has made flyers and is doing a scrapbook about their project. They have collected over 1,000 children’s books suitable to send to schools in other countries. Students speaking about their project included: Caleb Harris, Caitlyn Harris, Lillie Mahan, Shane Stackpole and Isabelle Wright.

The Mars Hill Rotary Club Birthday Calendars have arrived and are being distributed. Rotarians are delivering pre-ordered calendars. Anatomy fundraisers

The CAHS Anatomy Class is planning a trip to Philadelphia in April to visit the Mutter Museum. There are eight students that plan to pursue a career in the medical field, and the museum features past medical marvels that shaped the treatments and medications offered today. In addition, the students hope to also see the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Liberty Bell Center, the National Constitution Center, Eastern State Penitentiary and Liberty 360 — a 3-D panoramic theater showcasing America’s historical journey.

The class will be holding several fundraisers to raise the money necessary for them to take the trip. They have a private donor who has pledged $1 for every $2 that the students raise.

Current fundraisers include tickets on a quarter side of beef, which will be available in mid-January. Tickets are six for $5. The beef is being donated by Donovan Family Farms and will be cut to the winner’s specifications by Garey’s Slaughter House.

Another is a “calendar” sale for the month of January. Tickets are $10 each. There are 22 chances to win cash as they will draw a ticket on 22 of the 31 days in January. There will be two $200 drawings, four $100 drawings and 16 $20 drawings.

For more information, contact Leigh Belair, anatomy teacher, at 425-2811.
