To the editor:
I live in a small town in Oklahoma where the grass grows the direction of the blowing winds, a mother of five, caregiver and grandmother of six. My two sons are proud Marines having served in Iraq. After my husband died, I began writing. It is my joy and sometimes the only way to breathe through this new life.
Bob and Alice Luhrs of Houlton have been my longtime friends, adopted as family. We met when they were living in Portland, Ore. Bob and Alice introduced me to my husband, now deceased. Alice has held all my children, took our family in when we were homeless. She has encouraged me to send this writing to you knowing how Houlton cares to keep family values and traditions of which the holiday season is integral. I believe there are people who still believe in the magic of Christmas and I pray this will delight your readers.
