The Pine Tree Chapter  of the American Red Cross recently received a $450 check from the Pepsi Cola Beverages Co. in Presque Isle. Back in January, Pepsi employees started collecting their empty recyclables and would take them to the Washburn Redemption Center. Pepsi’s action planning team decided to donate the money to the local Red Cross chapter, as it was one group the company hadn’t donated to. Pictured are, from left: Gerald Carney, owner of the Washburn Redemption Center; Shannon Cook and Joyce Price, Aroostook County advisory board members of the American Red Cross; and Bob Bishop, territory sales coordinator for Pepsi Cola Beverages Co. In addition to food drives that benefit Catholic Charities of Maine, Pepsi also donates to the Salvation Army’s Coats for Kids campaign.
