Not present was Brownie Girl Scout Lexee McKinney.
The nine participating Daisy and Brownie Girl Scouts conducting the ceremony were taught and guided by Troop 1137 Leaders Courtney Lovely, Roxanne Poole and Julie Knight. The purpose of the event was to honor and show respect for all those who have served our country, and to teach the Girl Scouts the importance of appreciating our liberties today by remembering and honoring both all those who have served our country, as well as to recognize those who have endured having loved ones serve also.
The ceremony started off with a formal Color Guard of all participating Girl Scouts entering into the main gathering room where over 60 people were present. The Girl Scout in charge was Daisy Girl Scout Jayden Lovely, who announced the start of the ceremony, advised of the next steps in each part of the ceremony and who asked for participation from the residents.
The Color Guard was led by Daisy Girl Scout Eva Callioras, who officially brought the group into the room, and who led The Pledge of Allegiance after each girl was in position with her own flag.
Next, the girls recited the Girl Scout Promise, which was led by Daisy Girl Scout Madyson Wark, followed by the sharing of The Girl Scout Law. The ceremony continued with the girls singing three songs: “Make New Friends,” led by Brownie Girl Scout Jeanna Knight; “Something In My Pocket,” led by Brownie Girl Scout Josalyn Wark; and “My Country Tis of Thee,” led by Brownie Girl Scout Courtney Harding.
The ceremony concluded with each Girl Scout taking the time to individually meet and introduce themselves, and to thank every one of the attending residents for allowing the Scouts to join them on Veteran’s Day in their facility.
