FITNESS CHAMPS – Third, fourth and fifth-grade students at the Eva Hoyt Zippel Elementary School in Presque Isle participated in various physical fitness events during physical education classes this fall. The events included the v-sit and reach, the mile, the shuttle run, push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups and the flexed-arm hang. Students receiving first-place awards in one or more of these fitness events for their grade level were, in front from left, Patrick Lessard, Connor Demerchant, Sam Beaulieu, Chris Bearden, Kimberly Cook, Olivia Sanchez, Rebekah Poliero and Shane Willette. Second row, Joy Wang, Caleb Wheaton, Jake Stevens, Sophia Lambert, Kacie Chapman, Torey Levesque, Lisa Stiber and Jonathan Campbell. PRESIDENTIAL AWARD WINNERS – Zippel Elementary School students placing among the top 85 percent in the nation in five of six fitness events are, from left, Chris Bearden, Madison Bearden and Emily Wheaton. Madison Bearden is the only student to be a top Presidential winner all three years at Zippel.
