Several Easton students to attend music festival

Congratulations to Taylor Lawrence, who will be representing Easton at the All State Jazz Festival, to be held on January 6, 7 and 8, 2011, in Scarborough. Lawrence will also be representing Easton at the All State Music Festival, to be held in Gorham on May 19-21, 2011.

Congratulations also goes out to the following Easton students who will be representing Easton at the All Aroostook Music Festival, to be held in Houlton on Jan. 14-15, 2011: In the High School Chorus — Cassandra Buck and Taylor Lawrence; in the High School Band — Jessica Bennett and Meghan Frank; in the Middle School Chorus — Kerrigan Arnett, Elise Allen, Breann Clayton, Sara Gilman and Sydnee Waters; and in the Middle School Band — Jacob Flewelling.

These young musicians have worked hard to receive these honors and will represent Easton’s school system very well. Again, congratulations to you all.

Birthdays/anniversaries

On Dec. 15, Tracy Hammond, David Richardson, Jason Rooney, Taylor Lawrence, Hannah-Jo-Burch and Lunden Tibbetts all have a birthday.

Dec. 16 will be a birthday day for Elva Patterson and Carson Flewelling. Also on Dec. 16, Carlos and Suzette DeCruz have an anniversary.

On Dec. 17, Dot Waugh and Kevin Pelletier will be another year older.

On Dec. 18, Jacob King, Bertie Bird, Allie White, Kristi White, Taylor Scanlin, Debra Nicholson, Brian Lunney-Winger and Christopher DeMerchant all have a birthday. Also on Dec. 18, Matt and Chantel Pelletier have an anniversary to celebrate.

Terry Chalou and Toni Day have a birthday on Dec. 19.

On Dec. 20, Cindy Fuller, Kristen Fitzherbert, Katelyn White and Scott Dumond all have a birthday.

On Dec. 21, Jenna Lloyd and Amber Mullen have a birthday to celebrate. Also Clair and Eldora Carter have a Dec. 21 anniversary to celebrate.

Christmas program

The Easton Wesleyan Church will hold its Christmas program entitled “Christmas Eve at Mountain Creek Train Station.” This will be held on Sunday, Dec. 19, at 10:45 a.m.

Happy Days Club

The Easton Happy Days Club will hold its first meeting of the New Year on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011. Easton residents age 55 and older are invited to participate in all of the activities. All are encouraged to participate in the potluck luncheon at the manor, beginning at 11:30 a.m. The speaker for the meeting will be Kyla Lagassie. She lives in Easton and will be sharing with the group the importance of Girl Scouts.

Cub Scout roundup

The Cub Scout Pack 187 will be holding a roundup for new Scouts on Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Easton Wesleyan Church at 6:30 p.m. Any interested boys in grades 1-5 and their parents are encouraged to attend. Contact people are Mary Anne Anderson at 551-9884 or Tracy Hathaway at 488-8009.

Hospitalized

Marie Hewitt has been taken from her apartment by ambulance and hospitalized, later finding out she had to have her gall bladder removed. She is recuperating for a few days with her son, Michael, and his wife, RaeLynn. Our prayers and thoughts are with you, Marie. We wish you a very speedy recovery. Easton Rec. Presents…YAP (Youth Advocacy Program) will be offering a Parent’s Night Out on Tuesday, December 21 from 4:30 to 8 PM.  If you need to do some last minute shopping, gift wrapping or just want to go out to supper without the kids we have a deal for you.  For only $2, supper will be served and the Yappers will have a variety of activities to help entertain your little ones.  Open to grades one and up.

Rec calendar

Wednesday, Dec. 15 —  Junior activities for ages 2 and up at the hall from 9:30-11 a.m. Seniors’ exercise at 1 p.m. in the recreation room at the manor. Christmas movie at the hall after-school until 4:15 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 16 — Seniors’ Christmas Dinner in Washburn with their Recreation Group. The bus will depart from the manor at 10:45 a.m. There is no fee and all are welcome! Christmas gift making at the hall after-school until 4:15 p.m. Pre-registration required.

Friday, Dec. 17 —  Junior activities 9:30-11 a.m. at the hall. Open to ages two and up.

Monday, Dec. 20 — Senior Nutrition Class starting at 11 a.m. in the recreation room at the manor. Kindergarten swim lessons; we’ll carpool and return in time to ride the after-school buses home. After-school program “Gifts from the Kitchen” with Chris Finemore from the Cooperative Extension. Children must have a note for their classroom teacher and should be picked up at the hall at 4:15 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 21 — Little Bears 3rd and 4th grade practice in the high school gym from 2:45-4 p.m. Parents Night Out at the hall from 4:30-8 p.m. This is open to children in grades 1 and up. The cost is $2.
