The Ward family left this past Friday for Disney World in Orlando, Fla. The week-long trip was sponsored by the Maine Make-A-Wish Foundation. Three-year old Makenna, who is being held by her father, Kirk, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in April of 2009. Since that time she and her family have spent a year in and out of hospitals from Bangor to New York. She is currently in remission. The family was picked up by Jeff Flye, far right, owner of the Northeast Limousine Service from Waterville and taken to Bangor International Airport where they boarded a plane on Saturday morning. While in Orlando they will be guests of the “Give Kids the World Resort,” attend a variety of Disney attractions and other theme parks. From left are Kirk Ward, holding Makenna, mother Amy and older sister, Felicity. Makenna’s year-old brother, Blake is staying home with other family members.
