PT Karl RichterAmerican Flag Color    MT. CHASE AND PLEASANT POINT – Karl A. Richter, 72, went to meet his Savior November 30, 2010 from his daughter’s home in Milford, surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with leukemia. He was born April 11, 1938 in Portland.
    Karl proudly served this Nation in the U.S. Army after graduating from Deering High School. After his service to his country, he attended and received his business degree from Northeastern Business College. He attended the Maine State Police Academy which led him to be the Chief of Police for Pleasant Point. He was also a volunteer ambulance driver for the Pleasant Point community. Karl was a self taught plumber, electrician, carpenter, and handyman of numerous skills, earning him the “jack of all trades” title. Loving the outdoors led him to try his hand as a logger, working for various tribal loggers where he then discovered his true calling, obtaining his class one license and drove his “18 wheelers” for JB Hunt for 20 years. He lived for deer hunting season to begin, every year polishing and sighting in his trusty rifles.  Always an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, camping out, hiking and being in the woods surrounded by nature.
    He is survived by his wife, Ruby (Mitchell) Richter; his children, Mark Richter, Margo Downing and her husband, Paul, Rolfe Richter and his wife, Trudy; grandchildren, Mandy Richter, Nicholas Bear, Keith Downing, BJ Pulk, Jessica Johnson,  great grandchildren, Carmella and Layla Bear, Asia Stevens, Summer Bradley Kamisha Richter, Morgan Pulk, Alyssa and Cassidy Johnson. Karl also will be greatly missed by his only godchild, Myshon Dana, as well as his very close family friends, Dwinal and Rachel Anderson and their children.
    Karl was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Margaret Richter of Portland.
    Friends called all day on Wednesday, Thursday, and on Friday until 5 p.m. at the home of Mary Theresa Downing, 470 Peter Dana Point Road, Indian Township, ME 04668. Karl’s Funeral will be held at the Patten Pentecostal Church in Patten on Friday, Dec. 10 at 1 p.m. officiated by Pastor Frank Randall.
