PRESQUE ISLE – Chad Bartley doesn’t mind if people take advantage of his skills as a certified public accountant; in fact, he encourages it.
“People can take advantage of my experience at a much more affordable rate,” he said. “I provide quality service, am easily accessible, and can get the information to people quickly and accurately. I have 16 years’ of experience and have seen a wide range of issues come up, and that experience means something and is something you can fall back on. Since I don’t have a lot of overhead, I can keep my rates reasonable.”

CHAD BARTLEY, CPA opened Sept. 1 on Main Street in Presque Isle. The certified public accountant does everything from audits to prepare tax returns. Bartley, of Presque Isle, said clients can rely on his 16 years’ of experience and affordable rates.
Bartley opened Chad Bartley, CPA Sept. 1.
“Prior to opening my own business, I had worked for a large, local firm,” he said. “After I got done there, I had a lot of people call me up and ask me if I was going to go into business for myself. That got me thinking that maybe I should.
“Being in the business for 16 years, it’s what I know, so it made sense to go into business for myself rather than start something entirely new,” said Bartley. “It’s nice being your own boss.”
Bartley does everything from audits to tax return preparation.
“I can do audits, compilations and reviews, estate and trust returns, consulting, as well as tax returns for individuals, businesses and non-profits,” he said. “As an auditor, I’ve audited commercial entities with over $100 million of assets, as well as local towns, schools and non-profits.”
Business has been good, Bartley said, up to this point.
“I’ve got a bunch of jobs lined up,” he said. “Obviously for my business, January to April is when a lot of those jobs are going to occur, but I’ve been busy with clients.”
Bartley was born in Presque Isle and graduated from Central Aroostook High School in Mars Hill. He then attended the University of Maine at Presque Isle where he received bachelor of arts degrees in accounting and business management.
He is also a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants.
For now, Bartley works by himself, but may add employees as business dictates.
Located at 744 Main St., Suite 10 (in the Maine Potato Board building), Bartley is pleased with the location.
“My wife, Katie, and I drove around town looking at the various spaces available and we drove by here and saw the ‘For Rent’ sign in the window,” he said. “It’s a great location with plenty of parking. I’m very happy here.”
Chad Bartley, CPA is open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Hours will probably be extended during tax season.
