STACYVILLE — Children will be able to do their Christmas shopping again this year at Calvary Baptist Church’s annual Candy Cane Shop while helping local families at the same time.
The sale will take place Saturday, Dec. 11 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. in Fellowship Hall next to the sanctuary.
But, volunteer Amanda Mitchell said smart shoppers should not wait until noon. “Come early before everything sells out.”
Local businesses and church members have donated gift cards and new merchandise like candles, decorations, toys, books and jewelry that will be priced lower than their retail value.
Proceeds from the sale will go toward food and gift cards for community families in need. According to Mitchell, Pastor Donnie Willigar and a church committee will oversee the distribution of the proceeds from the sale.
Mitchell said she has been sending out bulletins to children through Katahdin Elementary School and expects a good turnout since there is already a buzz about the recurring and popular Christmas event. The sale is designed for children up to grade six.
The church is located at 578 Station Rd. in Stacyville. Mitchell said all donations are greatly appreciated and, so far, people have been generous.
