A CHIMNEY FIRE was reported at 265 State St. in Presque Isle at around 7:30 a.m. Nov. 2 by a passerby. The Presque Isle Fire Department was on the scene for about a half hour, clearing a blockage in the chimney and smoke from the home, owned by Richard James. Deputy Chief Richard Wark reminds property owners that it’s that time of year again when furnaces are being put back into use and therefore chimneys and furnaces should be checked and cleaned accordingly by professionals. Tuesday’s incident was being blamed on an older chimney and a liner that was intact. For more information on fire prevention, contact your local fire department.
