Students and staff at Hodgdon High School were excited to be informed this month that the Adequate Yearly Progress Accountability Status has been made for the 2009-2010 school year in Reading. AYP is accountability information provided for how well districts and schools are progressing toward all students being proficient in reading and mathematics by the school year 2013-14.  Congratulations to all students, staff, and parents who work hard every day to ensure the continued success of our youth.
Students in grades 9-12 took the Fall Writing Prompt on Monday and Tuesday of this week. The 10th and 11th grade students completed the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test on Oct 13. Students and parents are encouraged to visit www.collegeboard.com/quickstart to access your free PSAT/NMSQT college planning kit, My College QuickStart. Students may view questions-and-answer explanations, see how their performance compares to that of students in our state, get a personalized SAT study plan, and find lists of colleges, majors, and careers right for each student.
All students and staff are invited to attend the upcoming film presentation, “To Save A Life,” being shown on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at Houlton High School. This film is about the real-life challenges teens face today. This is a free community event with a life-changing message parents and teens do not want to miss. Door prizes will also be given out throughout the evening. Check out www.tosavealifemovie.com for more information.
The first quarter ranking period ends Friday, Nov. 5. Students and parents are strongly encouraged to check www.edline.net. This is a powerful educational tool Hodgdon High School has implemented which makes it possible for HHS to increase parental involvement which raises student achievement and can transform our learning community. Edline is a source of constant communication between school and home; informing parents and students of all assignments, grades, important links online such as scholarship opportunities and deadlines, and many other incredible opportunities. Students who miss classes can check www.edline.net for work missed in class so they do not fall behind. Teachers will be available to give hands-on demonstrations of edline.net during Parent Conferences being held on Tuesday, Nov.16.
