CARIBOU — If you think the weather has been a bit on the chilly side, you’re almost right. Area temperatures have been just slightly below normal: the average low for Oct. 19 in Caribou is 33 degrees, but yesterday’s low dipped 5 degrees below that into the freezing zone leaving cars in that tell-tale frosty shell.

As expected for mid October, temperatures are not looking to warm up, rather the end of this week is looking to be a bit of a cool down, according to Pete Rahe, observing program leader at the National Weather Service in Caribou. As Caribou moves toward the weekend, Rahe reported that the area can expect highs in the mid-40s and lows in the mid-20s.

“October came in like a lamb and is going out like a lion,” he said, referring to the atypical 74-degree high temperature that kicked off October.

While a four-letter word that few are looking forward to reading, Saturday night may bring a bit of S-N-O-W in the form of showers.
