Boy’s season wraps up

The regular season officially came to a close last night for central Aroostook County boys teams as Caribou and Presque Isle met in Caribou. Summaries of games played through Monday are as follows:
Central Aroostook 5, Van Buren 0 – Dan Brewer scored all five goals, all in the second half, in the Panthers’ victory over the Crusaders in Van Buren Monday.
Kyle Murray picked up a pair of assists and Ross Grass made 10 saves in goal for the 9-4-1 Panthers.
Fort Fairfield 8, Ashland 0 – The Tigers had a big second half, scoring seven times in the shutout of the Hornets Monday in Fort Fairfield. Travis Noyes netted five goals and Dereck Dufour two for the winners, who finished at 5-8-1 in regular season play. Nate McLaughlin also scored a goal, with Austin Bixler contributing a pair of assists. Chris Weeks had the shutout with two saves on the day.

FORT FAIRFIELD’S Travis Noyes controls the ball and looks for an opening, while Ashland’s Keith Holmes provides the defense during Monday’s match played at Fort Fairfield High School. Noyes exploded for five goals as Fort Fairfield blanked the Hornets, 8-0. The Tigers were in 11th place, with the top 10 qualifying for the playoffs, as of Tuesday morning’s Heal Point standings.
Easton 1, Limestone-MSSM 1 – The Bears got a goal from Holden Turner in the first half, but Limestone-MSSM’s Josh Forsman came through with the equalizer with 15:03 to play in the game as the two teams settled for the tie in Limestone Monday.
Cody Tompkins had seven saves on 15 shots for Easton, which finished at 4-8-2, while Brett Butler of the 1-10-1 Eagles stopped six of 12.
Washburn 7, Limestone-MSSM 1 – Jordan McLaughlin established a single-season school scoring record Saturday, as he notched five in his team’s home win over the Eagles.
Mitch Worcester had the Beavers’s other two goals, with Kyle Huston chalking up two assists in the contest. Goalie Zach Davis saved five of 10 shots for Washburn, which ended its regular season with a 9-4-1 record.
Jaime Poitraw scored for Limestone-MSSM and Butler saved six of 30 shots.
Easton 0, Central Aroostook 0 – The Bears and the Panthers played to a scoreless tie Thursday, with Grass saving six of 11 shots in goal for CA and Cody Tompkins turning away 14 of 31 in goal for the Bears.

Washburn 3, Van Buren 2 – On Thursday, McLaughlin connected on a pair of penalty kicks, both coming in the final 12 minutes, as the visiting Beavers came from behind to defeat the Crusaders.
Worcester scored an unassisted goal for Washburn, while Davis saved 11 of 13 shots in net.
A. J. Edgecomb scored both Van Buren goals.
Wisdom 8, Ashland 1 – At St. Agatha Thursday, Tyler Levesque scored the lone Hornet goal, off an assist from Kenny Tarr, in the loss to the Pioneers.
Curtis Picard scored four times for the 11-3 Wisdom squad.
Tyler Chasse handled the goalie chores for Ashland, saving 11 of 25 shots.
Presque Isle 10, Mattanawcook 0 – Nine different players scored goals Thursday as the Wildcats celebrated their final home game with the convincing victory over the Lynx.
Isaac LaJoie was the lone repeat scorer with two. Also tallying goals were Josh Allen, Ben McKenna, Andrew Wilcox, Andrew Legassie, Jacob Player, Jonah Stephenson, Jay Getman and Brandon Bonville.
Allen had two assists, while LaJoie, Sam Clukey and Wilder York notched one apiece. Andrew Kofstad had to save just one shot, on two attempts, in gaining the shutout in goal.
Fort Kent 4, Caribou 0 – Last Wednesday in Caribou, Jared Soucy scored twice as the visiting Warriors blanked the Vikes.
Garrett Jordan and Matt Manter split goalie chores for the Vikes, combining for 17 saves on 23 shots. Caribou fell to 3-7-3 with the defeat.
Central Aroostook 3, Fort Fairfield 2 – Brewer scored twice and Brandon Anthony tallied a goal and an assist as the Panthers snuck past the Tigers in Mars Hill last Tuesday.
Derek Rusby also had an assist for CA, while Grass saved three of 11 shots.
Jay Williams had both goals for Fort Fairfield. Noyes had an assist on one of them. Weeks saved four of 13 shots in goal for the Tigers.
Easton 3, East Grand 0 – The Bears were too much for the Vikings last Tuesday in Easton, as Holden Turner, Hunter Turner and Jared Hafford all found the back of the net.
Cody Tompkins needed to make just two saves to record the goalie shutout.
Alex Brittain faced 32 shots in net for East Grand.
Wisdom 7, Limestone-MSSM 0 – Picard scored five goals as the Pioneers cruised to the Tuesday victory in St. Agatha.
Eagle goalie Josh Forsman saved 11 of 19 shots.
Katahdin 5, Washburn 0 – The Cougars handled the Beavers in Stacyville last Tuesday as Micah Rodgerson netted two goals to lead the charge.
Davis had a busy afternoon in goal for the Beavers, facing 32 shots and collecting 18 saves.
