FORT FAIRFIELD – Laura Joan (Blaisdell) Thomas, 74, wife of the late Carl Leeland Thomas, Jr., passed away Sunday morning, October 17, 2010, at her Fort Fairfield residence, after an extended illness. She was born July 18, 1936, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Wallace H. and Palmire Marie (Dionne) Blaisdell. She received her elementary education at the Blaisdell Country School and was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School. Mrs. Thomas went on to further her education, attending nursing school and receiving her certification as a licensed practical nurse.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thomas was predeceased by her husband on January 25, 1998; one son, Carl Leeland Thomas III on December 27, 1982. She is survived by two sons, David W. Thomas and his wife, Jody of Gorham, Scott J. Thomas of Fort Fairfield; one daughter, Bonnie J. Cyr and her husband, Philip of Caribou; two brothers, Herbert Wallace Blaisdell of Caribou, Robert Bruce Blaisdell and his wife, Yvette of Fort Fairfield; three grandchildren, Tony Lee Barker of Stafford, Va., Christopher Lee Thomas of Caribou, Jeffery Del Barker of Rockport; one great-granddaughter, Abagail Lee Barker of Stafford, Va.; several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with the wishes of the family, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Thomas to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maine Chapter, 170 U.S. Route 1, Suite 200, Falmouth, Maine 04105. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
