Reach out and help the animal shelter
To the editor:
I am writing in regard to the Central Aroostook Humane Society here in Presque Isle. It upsets me to see how our Shelter struggles to keep going day after day. They put all their efforts into taking care of all the animals there every day. They have fundraisers, etc. to help earn money for the shelter. But they need more.
I am asking all the people in the community and the surrounding areas that use the shelter to reach out and help them.
I realize times are tough right now for all of us. If everyone or every family could donate even $10 a month to our shelter, do you realize how much money that would generate. It would help them with their day-to-day expenses for the building and also with anything the animals there would need – food, blankets, towels, kitty litter, laundry soap, etc. It would also help with the spaying and neutering expenses.
I adopted a Siberian Husky from the shelter in 1994 when she was four years old. Her name was Bo. She was a very special part of our family and we loved her. She was a wonderful friend and companion. We cherished every day we had with her until she passed in November 2003. We will always have our memories of her.
So I hope you will at least think about it and remember the important work our animal shelter does for our communities and our animals that are in the shelter. Their ultimate goal is to find a home for all the animals that shelter there.
