PRESQUE ISLE — A driver lost control of her minivan Oct. 7 while traveling west on a rain-slicked section of the State Road in Presque Isle, about a half mile from the Skyway Street intersection.
The Presque Isle Police Department responded to the scene around 12:09 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a minivan laying on its side in the ditch on the lefthand side of the road.
“The driver, Jillian R. Harris, 25, of Mapleton, was able to get out of the vehicle on her own. She reported she lost control when she hydroplaned on the wet pavement,” said Sgt. Eric Erickson, PIPD, the investigating officer.
Harris, who was traveling alone at the time of the accident, sustained minor injuries as the result of the crash. She refused treatment at the scene and was later transported by personal vehicle to The Aroostook Medical Center to be evaluated. Her vehicle, a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country, sustained significant damage and was towed from the scene by Jerry’s Towing of Presque Isle.
Sgt. Mark Barnes, PIPD, handled traffic, with Crown Ambulance and the Presque Isle Fire Department also assisting at the scene of the accident.
A ROLLOVER on the State Road Oct. 7 sent driver Jillian Harris, of Mapleton, to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The accident occurred when Harris hydroplaned on the wet road. Pictured are Sgt. Eric Erickson, of the PIPD, and firefighter Vince Baldwin looking over the accident scene.
