Arrest made in 2009 burglary

Richard Larsen, 47, of Crouseville, was arrested on Friday, Oct. 8, in connection with the Sept. 8, 2009 theft of building materials from the Presque Isle Snowmobile Club. Reports at the time indicated thousands of dollars in building materials and supplies — specially ordered from Ward Cedar Log Homes — had been removed from a storage facility that housed other club equipment.
“Through the Presque Isle Police Department’s investigation, enough information was gathered to secure a warrant for the arrest of Larsen in connection with the burglary and theft that occurred Sept. 8, 2009. Larsen was arrested at his residence in Washburn without incident and with the assistance of the Maine State Police and Washburn Police Department,” said Sgt. Joey Seeley, PIPD. Also assisting in the investigation were deputies of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office.
Larsen was arrested on the warrant and charged with Class C theft and burglary. Larsen was transported to the PIPD for processing, where he was met by his attorney, Frank Bemis, of Presque Isle. Bail was set at $40,000 surety. Larsen’s mother posted bail and he was released, with a Caribou Superior Court date of Dec. 16.
Police did not specify if any of the building materials were recovered. The investigation remains open. Police indicated more arrests may be forthcoming.
