Gary A. Crandall, 63, Oakfield, died Oct. 6, 2010 in Bangor. He was born Oct. 8, 1946 in Island Falls, the son of Kenneth Sr. and Pansy (Sherman) Crandall. He is a U.S. Army veteran serving during Vietnam, receiving three Purple Hearts. He is a member of the Frank B. Holden Post #52 Oakfield, the Houlton Lodge of Elks, and a lifetime member of the No. American Hunting Club. He retired in 2001 from Northland Telephone Company.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Robin (Stairs) Crandall; one son, Matthew Crandall, and his fiance, Donna; one daughter, Hilary, and her husband, Torry Lane, all of Oakfield; three grandchildren, Janie, Colton and Mariah; two sisters-in-law, Jennie, wife of Dale, and Carolyn, wife of Kenneth Jr.; several nieces and nephews, Bruce and Dede Edkins, Beth Edkins, Lisa and Brian Boutilier, Allison and Rick Burpee, Kenneth and Melissa Crandall, Bethany O’Donoghue and Raymond and Keri-Ann Crandall; several great-neices and nephews.
A graveside funeral service was held 10 a.m. Monday at the Oakfield Cemetery with David Hutchinson officiating. A time of fellowship followed at the Pond House. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Post #52 Memorial Fund c/o Bowers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 579, Houlton, ME 04730.
